Mt. John  University Observatory ( MJUO ) 

位於南島 Lake Takapo 湖畔的 Mt. John 山頂  

海拔 1029 公尺

創立於 1965 年 , 屬於 Canterbury University

與日本名古屋大學合作

在此設有直徑 1.8 公尺 的天文望遠鏡

In June 2012 an area of 430,000 hectares (1,700 sq mi)

around the observatory was declared

as the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve

by the International Dark-Sky Association,

one of only four such reserves around the world.^[2]

The area has a Bortle Scale of 2. ^[3]
